7 Simpsons Characters that Died (or Were Killed Off) Posted: 27 Oct 2009 07:16 AM PDT ![]() Mona Simpson is Homer's birth mother whose first extended appearance didn't come until the seventh season. She appeared a few other times, always abandoning Homer, until the 19th season when she returns and asks for forgiveness. Homer initially refuses to forgive her but then goes to find her, only to learn she had died. ![]() Frank Grimes was a one-show character who killed himself (thought not on purpose) by grabbing high voltage wires. Grimes grabbed the wires while on a rant about how Homer succeeds despite being lazy and stupid. ![]() The wife of Ned Flaners, Maude's death came in Season 11 at the new Springfield motor speedway. Homer was in the last row trying to get some cheerleaders with a t-shirt gun to shoot a shirt his way. But at the last minute Homer bends down to pick up a bobby pin, and the t-shirt knocks Maude over the side of the stadium and she falls to her death. ![]() A recurring character in the early years, Bleeding Gums is a jazz musician who Lisa has always loved. She gets to meet her hero while visiting Bart in the hospital and later in the episode she learns he has died. ![]() Abe "Grampa" Simpson met Bea in Season 2 while both were living at the Springfield Retirement Castle. In a touching episode, Bea dies, apparently of old age, and leaves Abe all her money. He uses the money to refurbish the retirement home dining room and names it in Bea's honor. ![]() Dr. Nick died in "The Simpsons Movie" when he was impaled and said, "Bye everybody!" But after a short hiatus he was miraculously reborn and has appeared briefly in two episodes. ![]() In Season 8, Poochie is introduced as a new character on "The Itchy & Scratch Show" and Homer is hired to be the voice of Poochie. But Poochie is not a success, and on the show a decision is made to get rid of him. So a plot in conceived in which it's revealed that Poochie was an alien and he died while on his way back to his home planet. |
